overcoming obstacles: 3 reminders to move forward

Holding onto resentment or anger only prolongs the suffering. Letting go of past hurts, grudges, or negative experiences, while accepting what has happened, allows you to move forward with a sense of freedom and inner peace.

Yesterday, I kept replaying in my head why such a thing would happen to me when all I’ve been thinking are kind thoughts towards others! I felt as if I got betrayed for being a good person.

I questioned my own belief that “everything happens for a reason” because I still believe that if I hadn’t gone through all those setbacks, those obstacles, and those tears, I wouldn’t be where I am today. I would not have found happiness within myself. I would not have met my partner. I would not have gone on this path to heal others.

I tried to think of reasons why that incident happened TO me, but then I realised there’s no point in trying to understand it right now. All I needed to do is accept what’s happened, remind myself that it happened FOR me, and know that the reasons will eventually unfold in themselves.

So, if you’re going through tough times right now, I hope you know that there will always be light on the other side, and you’ll always come out much, much stronger. These are the 3 reminders to help you move forward:

  1. Release what released you. Acceptance is peace.
  2. Instead of dwelling on the past, ask yourself, “What can I do better next time?”
  3. Reframe your thoughts from “it happened TO me” to “it happened FOR me”.
