what does it mean to be “successful”

Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.
If you love what you are doing, you will be successful.

On my first-ever RTT session, my therapist asked me, “What is your goal in life?” I replied, “To be successful.”

She repeated her question again, and I reiterated my answer.

It wasn’t until the third time that she said, “I’m asking you, Eve. Not what your dad or anyone else wants you to be. What is YOUR goal in life?”

To my surprise, I paused for a few seconds and answered, “I just want to be happy. I want to settle down with my little family, hopefully with twins, and have my little farm.”

💡 I still remember that pivotal moment so fondly; the moment I realised that money didn’t actually mean success to ME. I was simply chasing ‘success’ to gain validation from my dad at the expense of my physical and mental health when, in fact, that validation must come from within.

Do you agree that happiness is the key to success? What does success really mean to you?
