10th October — it’s World Mental Health Day today ❤️🩹
I’ve been reflecting on my own journey over the past 30-odd years, having experienced anxiety, severe panic attacks, body dysmorphia, eating disorders, depression, and multiple burnouts.
I went through many health-related issues and had a low immune system for the majority of my life. But thanks to the book, The Body Keeps the Score, I realised that my body was simply crying for help because I didn’t know how, or who, to ask for support all those years ago.
I certainly don’t miss those frequent blackouts in random public places when I was alone, waking up in an ambulance… To be here today, living a life of fulfilment and abundance, and continuing my own healing journey through helping others—as the saying goes, “Healed people heal people”—honestly, becoming a therapist has been the best decision I’ve ever made for myself.
If you’ve been struggling with something you’re not yet ready to talk about, if you’ve been fighting your battles and suffering in complete silence, or if you feel you’re not making any visible progress in your healing journey—please remember that you are not alone.
It may seem like you are going nowhere at times, but that’s when you have to keep pushing through, hold on a little longer (and tighter), and trust that there is light at the end of the tunnel.
